Job description
We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer with strong hands-on experience in machine-shop manufacturing and mechanical component design. The candidate will be responsible for creating and modifying 2D/3D designs, manufacturing drawings, tooling/component models, and production-ready drawings while coordinating with production and quality teams. Key Responsibilities Develop and modify 2D drawings and 3D models for machine-shop components and assemblies. Prepare detailed manufacturing drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, specifications, and material details. Design components suitable for CNC, VMC, turning, milling, drilling, grinding, and other machining processes. Create and interpret engineering drawings according to manufacturing requirements. Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) principles to drawings. Prepare 3D models, assembly drawings, and production drawings. Review designs for manufacturability, dimensional accuracy, and machining feasibility. Coordinate with Production, Quality, Tool Room, and Purchase/Vendor teams for design-related requirements. Modify existing designs based on production feedback, customer requirements, and engineering changes. Support the preparation of BOMs, drawing revisions, and technical documentation. Ensure drawings and design documents are maintained with proper revision control. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation using MS Word and PowerPoint. Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and customers regarding design and manufacturing requirements. Required Technical Skills AutoCAD Autodesk Inventor SolidWorks Creo Fusion 360 2D Drafting & 3D Modelling GD&T Engineering Drawing & Blueprint Reading Dimensional Tolerancing Machining / Machine-Shop Knowledge Manufacturing Process Understanding MS Word & PowerPoint Preferred Machine-Shop Knowledge Candidates should have practical exposure to: CNC Turning VMC / Milling Drilling Grinding CNC machining processes Cutting tools and machining methods Inspection and measurement requirements Material and component specifications Manufacturing feasibility and design optimization Candidate Profile B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. 3–5+ years of relevant experience in machine-shop / manufacturing industries. Strong knowledge of mechanical design and manufacturing drawings. Good understanding of GD&T, tolerances, drafting, and 3D modelling. Experience working with one or more major CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, Creo, or Fusion 360. Good communication and coordination skills.
